Data Archiving

NERC Data Policy requires that NERC-funded scientists must make their data openly available within two years of collection and deposit it in a NERC data centre for long term preservation.

NERC grant supported projects

If your GEF loan has been supported by a NERC Grant, you will have been required to produce a Data Management Plan detailing where your data will be archived.

Other projects

For projects not supported by a NERC grant, a suitable archiving location must be identified.

• For seismological data, the IRIS Data Management Centre (IRIS-DMC) is currently used. Further information is available from Seis-UK.
• For all other data, the National Geoscience Data Centre (NGDC) is recognised as the NERC Environmental Data Centre for geoscience data.
