The Geophysical Equipment Facility (GEF) loans equipment suitable for land based geophysical research to universities and other institutes engaged in research within the NERC remit.
The Facility operates as three nodes :-
- GEF (Edinburgh) is located within the Grant Institute at the University of Edinburgh and forms the central administrative node and specialises in support for GPS, GPR and Geomagnatism.
- GEF (Leicester) - SEIS-UK is located within the Department of Geology at Leicester University and specialises in support for Seismology.
- OBIF (Ocean Bottom Instrument Facility) is located within Durham and Southampton Universities and specialises in seabed multi-sensor geophysical instrumentation.
Information is provided within these web pages for new and existing users of our equipment. If you wish to borrow equipment and have not done so before, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your requirements.
The next deadline for applications to the Facility is 16th April 2010. Applicants should ensure they have the most current version of our application form available in the Forms section of this website.
Please note a new form has recently been introduced and applications completed in Microsoft Word format are no longer acceptable.
